Jordan Nickels is a writer, photographer, dramaturg, and theater critic; originally from Indiana.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Theatrical Studies from Ball State University in 2015. He has since worked at Nashville Children’s Theater, Goodspeed Opera House, Florida Studio Theatre, and American Conservatory Theater. After graduating college, he also worked in Entertainment for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

His writing has included several ten-minute plays, including Lights Out, Pomp and Circumstance, Bang Baby Love, and Collaboration. Along with his play Free, Jordan is currently working on two other full-length plays: The Barton Hallow Project and Ever After.

Jordan’s dramaturgy at Ball State University included Major Barbara, 8 the Play, and Next to Normal, which he received a Certificate of Merit for Dramaturgy at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region III (KCACTF) in 2015. He was also the dramaturg at Florida Studio Theater for several productions; including Piano Men, Clever Little Lies, The Exonerated, and The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey. 

His other writing includes serving as a Blog Writer and Managing Editor for Camp Broadway’s website in New York City. As a theater critic, Jordan was the Region III recipient of the Institute for Journalism and Advocacy (ITJA) Critics Competition Award at KCACTF in 2015. He is currently residing in San Francisco, CA. He is a contributing Critic for OnStage Blog and is a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle.
